Program

In 2020 and 2021 SAMW shall serve as the gateway for Canadian music industry and artists who wish to access markets in South Africa and Southern African countries that make up the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC).

Conference

Panel discussions include the following topics:

  • The Music Value Chain (Africa and other developing countries and Developed Countries)
  • Virtual and Augmented Reality
  • The role of Radio in the Music Value Chain
  • Intellectual Property, Copyright and Royalty Collection Systems

  • Music tourism and contribution to GDP
  • Round Table Discussions will be used to address music-policy matter and issues related to regulation or lack thereof within the Music Industry in South Africa.


Festival

SAMW aims to run a 10 to 20 venue festival with a performance programme divided into the following categories:

  • Large Events
  • Small Venue Performances
  • Exhibition Space Performances
  • Busking Performances


Trade expo

The Music Expo will run 1 x Day as part of the conference component of the programme. It will comprise at least 10 music-related service and product exhibitors who will pay for use of the space. Detailed Floor Plans, as well as space and pricing options, will be developed as soon as the conference venue is confirmed. The exhibition will include:

  • Exhibitor Stands
  • Snack and light meal vendors within a food court area with seated dining space.
  • Small Stage for ongoing performances
